Rhythm Lounges Hip hop Karaoke

Being a huge hip hop fan myself I was very eager to check out this hip hop karaoke. Also because this meant I wouldn't have to listen to people attempt to sing Celine Dion, old pop songs, an country. No offense to those genres of music. The event was held in downtown Pasadena, 21 and over , free to get in, drink specials all night, the only catch is that it happens every so often so you have to be on the look out. That goodness for instagram and facebook. When I arrived it was already an hour in from when everything started, and I could feel the energy right when i walked in. All the way in the back was a small stage with some big voices and not so shy personalities singing there hearts out on stage. Now I've never been a partaker in Karaoke,I was very shy of the mic and I never would actually get up and sing a song by myself. Always just watched and cheered on my fellow friends. But this time with a couple pushes from friends, and i found myself on stage singing my heart out. And surprisingly no one head for the hills at the sound of my voice. I really liked that it was a hip hop karaoke, not just because hip hop is one of my favorite genres but because hip hop is a little bit more challenging to sing along to. Some artists rap, some sing, and there is always unique rhythms and grooves that are not always easy to follow along too. So when I found the song Roses by Outkast, a song that i was very familiar with I think it helped give me a little boost of confidence. I can proudly say I didn't feel one bit stage fright. And although i did enjoy the spot light i much enjoyed watching the most unlikely -people rap to Dr. Dre, Eminem, snoop ,, common, and many more of my favorite artist. Unfortunately Hip hop karaoke only comes around every so often... so until next time. I shall be practicing my Karaoke in the car or in the shower.
