People experience and overcome some amazing things all in which are stories waiting to be told. My mission is to write about the untold stories of people. My second mission is to share with you my experiences by reviewing the random and interesting places I find myself getting into.

Kelly Thomas event
Who is Kelly Thomas? That was the question I asked myself when I agreed to volunteer with Future in Humanity at the Kelly Thomas event. This might seem like a ignorant question, but I am not one to keep up with current events, unless I read it in a TIME magazine. I was quite surprised to show up at the event in the middle of downtown Fullerton, and here music from live bands, a couple different food trucks and booths collecting food and clothing, selling auction items and selling t-shirts with the words " Kelly Thomas was murdered by the Fullerton Police"

About Future in Humanity: Future in Humanity was asked to help with the clothing drive and canned food collection. We started our day sorting through over 50 bags of donated clothes. We sorted the clothing and laid them on the table for those apart of the homeless commnunity, to freely come up and choose clothing to keep. There was such a diversity of people who came up to the table looking for clothing. Men in their 30-50 years looking for jeans and shirts, women looking for clothing, even teens just wanted a jacket or long sleeve shirt.
Hesitation gleamed over many of the people who approached the table, not sure if they were able to take clothing, but were comforted by the smiles from myself and my fellow volunteers. Many only took what they could keep in their backpacks, because that was what they were living out of.
Homeless Liaison: I had the honor meeting JD Decaprio, who is the Fullerton Police Liaison to the homeless people in Fullerton. Every day he goes out into the community and approaches the people living the street and see what they need. Sometimes they just need a bus pass to connect them to families, some need counseling, and others need to know that someone is there to listen and help them.
The Event
It was a great feeling being able to personally give clothes to those that needed them I can't even count how many times I heard the words " thank you" from the people hosting the event to those receiving clothes. It was also nice seeing the community come together. It was a day of music from local fullerton bands, moshing pitting guests, delicious food trucks, and people coming together to support a common cause.
" You can't help a group of people if you don't know anything about them."- JD Decaprio
