People experience and overcome some amazing things all in which are stories waiting to be told. My mission is to write about the untold stories of people. My second mission is to share with you my experiences by reviewing the random and interesting places I find myself getting into.

The sky room bar
I remember passing by the place, whenever I would visit downtown long beach at night. And i remember seeing the lights for way up high wondering what was up there. This past Sunday, thanks to a friend's boost of adventure I got to experience the Sky Room Bar. Although I've passed by it many times before I had very little knowledge of it's history and breath taking appeal.
The sky room bar is located on the top floor of what use to be one of the original Hilton hotels. And that's where it's remained since 1926.
As we walked up the red carpeted stairs at the entrance of the building and, followed a long hallway to the elevator my curiosity and excitement rose. When we reach the elevators we were greeted by an elevator attendant. I was surprised and impressed. As we road up the floors, the attendant gave us a 30 second history lesson of the building.
When the elevator doors opened we walked into the restaurant. A circular style room with the bar in the middle overlooking the streets and building in long beach. The drinks at the bar are a little higher then your average restaurant bar, averaging about $12-13 a drink. However they do serve a good mimosa and the best Moscato i've ever tasted.
As delightful as the restaurant was the best part was on the floor above.
The bar area on the top floor overlooked everything. From one side you could see over every roof top and building in downtown long beach. On the other side you could feel the breeze from the ocean, and gaze over the port into the horizon. Standing on top, looking over the city, a sense of peace fell over me. So high that none of the worries of below could touch, only thing that could was wind and sun.
After our rooftop adventure, my girlfriends and I decided to do a little exploring of our own by following the signs that said " do not enter, this is not an exit." And walked the halls of the old hotel rooms. We even found a vacant room that we were very tempted to move in to. But we decided it might not work out.
